The birth of Ryan's MINI
Like many children, Ryan cherished her collection of toys, but her Matchbox cars were something special. Among the trucks, emergency vehicles, and sports cars, her favorite was a vibrant red MINI Cooper. When she wasn’t zooming it around the house, she would keep an eye out for the real versions on the road, proudly pointing them out to anyone nearby. It felt only fitting to lay Ryan to rest with her beloved shiny red MINI in hand, a final tribute to her adventurous spirit.
In a heartfelt effort to celebrate Ryan’s love for her little red car, a search was launched for the elusive Matchbox Red MINI Cooper. Despite countless trips to local stores and bids on eBay, progress was slow. Everything changed when the Matchbox Collectors Community learned of Ryan's story
Overnight, MINIs began pouring in from around the globe. Ultimately, over 300 red MINIs and unique variations were collected, showcasing the remarkable kindness of strangers eager to honor a fellow Matchbox enthusiast.
One generous soul even offered to customize some of the MINIs. When the customized cars arrived, Ryan's family sent one to each of those special individuals as a gesture of gratitude, while others were reserved for family and friends who had played significant roles in Ryan’s life.
